SB ALERT: The Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low drops today

Posted on Jun 15, 2019 in Jordan Brand

Back in the ’80s, skaters used to wear bargain bin Jordan 1s (yes, they made it to the clearance racks back in the day) for skating, as they provided great board feel and durability. Incidentally, when Nike signed Gino Iannucci and Reese Forbes, Nike SB didn’t exist and they were gifted with Air Jordan 1s. In 2014, the brands recognized their intertwined history as Lance Mountain, Nike SB and Jordan Brand created a special series of Air Jordan 1 SBs that called back to those early days. Today, Nike SB and Jordan Brand come together again and continue that story. This time around, Eric Koston and co. take inspiration from that era to create the Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low.

Back in 2001 (right before Nike SB was created), Koston recalls Gino showing him a Navy/White Air Jordan 1 with the Zoom Air sockliner. Could this pair have been the Japanese exclusives but tweaked with the Zoom Air sockliners? Possibly. Regardless, it was the perfect shoe to bring back for this co-branded release. Eric Koston reimagines the shoe now as a low top, with the same colors from what he saw nearly 20 years ago. With his signature on the inner tongue, the Air Jordan 1 Low features Zoom Air for impact protection. A Jumpman logo is positioned on the shoe’s vamp which pays tribute to the Air Jordan 1’s 35th anniversary and respect to the game.

The Nike SB x Air Jordan 1 Low drops TODAY, June 15, at Titan Fort. The shoe retails for Php 5,795 and will be available on a first come, first basis beginning 4pm today.
