July Release: Air Jordan V ‘Alternate Grape’

Posted on Jul 5, 2020 in Jordan Brand

Among the OG colorways of the Air Jordan V, the ‘Grape’ garnered a cult following after Will Smith wore them on the regular on the set of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air back in the ’90s. While we have seen several grape-type iterations over the last decade, Jordan Brand continues to celebrate the shoe’s 30th anniversary with the release of the ‘Alternate Grape’ aka the ‘Purple Grape’ this week.

With the upper entirely made of purple suede, these definitely evoke the ‘Grape’ vibe on a whole other level. The matte black finish on the midsole, laces and eyestays mesh well with the suede upper, giving the shoe varying textures for a more dynamic look. the netting on the midfoot and throat goes well with the black hi-vis reflective tongue and the translucent portions of the outsole. Teal accents are found on the Jumpman, lace toggle and toothy midsole detailing. While the shoe may seem out there for the older Jordan folk, these ‘Alternate Grapes’ keeps the shoe relevant as we head into the 2020s.

The Air Jordan V ‘Alternate Grape’ drops this Tuesday, July 7 via nike.com/ph and will retail for Php 9,445. Expect a local release at Titan in the near future.
