Terrific News: San Miguel, Blackwater and TNT are playing in the EASL this September

Posted on Jul 20, 2019 in EASL

With the PBA finishing their final conference soon, you might want to follow your favorite teams as some of the PBA teams are joining the EASL – the East Asia Super League. This September, three PBA teams are joining 9 other clubs from the Chinese Basketball Association (China), B.LEAGUE (Japan), and the Korean Basketball League (KBL) to form the ‘Terrific 12’.

16 games will be played from start to finish, as they vie for winnings of over 300K USD. The group stage will be dividing the teams into four groups of three, with the top team advancing to the Semi-Finals. The Champion wins 150K USD, the runner-up 100K USD while the third place team 50K USD. Here are the teams participating in the EASL this summer:

  • China: Liaoning Flying Leopards; Shenzhen Aviators; Zhejiang Guangsha Lions
  • Japan: Chiba Jets; Niigata Albirex; Ryukyu Golden Kings; Utsunomiya Brex
  • Korea: Jeonju KCC Egis; Seoul SK Knights
  • Philippines: Blackwater Elite; San Miguel Beermen; TNT KaTropa

Expect to see some of the best players in Asia to compete in the Terrific 12 such as Guo Ailun (who apparently has his own PEs from Jordan Brand), Yuki Togashi, Sunhyung Kim, June Mar Fajardo and many others. Each team will also be allowed to have two (2) foreign players. The games will happen from September 17-22.
