Comfort and Detail. Two words that rarely go together, especially in the world of sneakers. However, Cushe was able to mesh the two together with the shoe you’re looking at. Like my previous post on Cushe (again, pronounced Koo-She), they pay strict attention to detail. For sneaker aficionados, old or young, they would say that sneakers are great because of the maker’s attention to detail. You get this feeling that the shoe was well thought out, that the shoe was made with a purpose. With Cushe, you get that assurance with each and every pair.
This time around, I decided to take in a piece from the Urban Safari Collection, the Vinyl 45. As part of the said collection, the shoe definitely was made for the urban jungle. I’d like to classify the shoe as an “everydayer”. Yes, we here at Sole Movement love to invent words. An everydayer is a shoe you can wear, well, everyday. They’re pretty comfy, easy on the eyes, and go with whatever outfit. Now, onto the shoe’s details.

At first glance, take out the lazy boy logo on the left and you have a Mexico 66 look going on. But there’s more to the Mexico silhouette to the Vinyl 45. Let’s start with the upper. The upper is made with soft-grain leather and a canvas-padded collar. The upper had leather strips and stitching cris-crossing from left to right which still made sense. The internal toe box has a rubber toe bumper, that should definitely keep your toes safe and cushioned. After wearing the shoe for a couple of hours, the shoe didn’t feel tight or squeezed the life out of my foot. The shoe is well ventilated with the mesh lining, allowing your foot to breathe amidst the leather.
The shape of the Vinyl 45 has a moulded EVA in-sock liner and an atomical last shape for a more natural fit. Striding in them was pretty easy. There was no resistance with the laces or with sole. A shock-absorbing midsole was the culprit in the comfortable ride. I’ve worn my share of nice kicks, but some are just good for a 3 hour wear. max. These Cushes are good for the whole day.
Last but certainly not the least are the shoes’ molded rubber outsole with the Vinyl Groove grip. The outsole definitely looks like a record, with the groobes and the record label design along the arch support. The shoe’s grip was spot on and didn’t slip once, especially with the rains keeping walkways wet and slippery. Another great thing on the Vinyls are the waxed laces. They’re easy to use and look great.

The only drawback I have the shoe was that it looked wide. This is definitely a plus for people with wide feet. It’s tough to find a good-looking pair out there with a wide base. They suit me just fine, it just makes my foot look wider than the average. Aside from that, the Vinyl 45 is the perfect everydayer.

Cushe’s store is located by the top floor of the Rockwell Power Plant Mall, Makati City.
