TOO FAST: The Converse Chuck 70 “30 & 40

Posted on May 2, 2018 in Converse

Kids these days associate greatness to MJ, LeBron, Kobe, KD, or any of today’s superstars. But let’s go back a couple of decades. Do you see that old man hanging around the players during the pregame? That old man watching the C’s used to patrol the paint and dominate. On one glorious night in May 1962, Bill Russell led the Celtics in overtime during the NBA Finals. His stat line? 30 points and 40 rebounds. WHO DOES THAT? He helped Boston win their 4th consecutive title and fueled one of the game’s greatest rivalries.

To commemorate that moment, the Art of a Champion pack gives us the Chuck 70s in black canvas, just like the Chucks Bill Russell wore back in the 60s. The stricken off 16 and Converse logos are found on the tongues, while the AoC 16 strikes are found on the shoe’s lateral side. Gold plated lace dubraes with 1962 are also present while “30-40” and the date of that Game 7 are stitched on to the inside of the tongue. The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star 70 “30 and 40” retails for Php 7,430. Titan offered the shoe earlier today via Electronic Raffle. Sadly, the time was up upon writing this. Should you find a pair elsewhere, pick them up.
