When you talk about Basketball and Paris, Stephane Ashpool’s Pigalle is always top of mind. Aside from working with Nike over the last couple of years with footwear and apparel collections, the two brands are also focused on community building programs to better serve the youth. This past year, they created a special court in Paris, proving to be a safe haven for players and the community. Since then, the program has grown further, creating courts in other cities such as Beijing, and most recently Mexico City.

“The importance of the project is to give players the best outdoor facilities in order to make them comfortable enough to create something bigger,” Ashpool says. “We want the court to become a second home. That’s how you build a community organically around a space — we simply give them the right tools.”

To coincide with these projects, Ashpool’s latest Nike x Pigalle collection as the uniform of the program. Dubbed “the Power of Sport to Move the World Forward”, the ’90s-inspired apparel stays true to Pigalle’s core that works both on and off the court.

Both use a technical fuse film atop the canvas, giving the shoe a mix of the classics and the future. The phrase “the power of music to move the world forward” is seen on the white Chuck 70’s rand is a definite call on the brand’s advocacy of a holistic view of the progressive value of sport and the arts.
