Converse and A$AP NAST come together for this season’s collection

Posted on Mar 21, 2019 in Converse

After Tyler, the Creator and Don C, another artist works with the Star and Chevron this season. A$AP NAST is all about seeking and absorbing new information. This curiosity continues to blend fashion and design with hip hop into one. A frequent collaborator of Converse, NAST grew up wearing Chucks in Harlem. His passion of the brand first developed on its streets, seen on the feet of so many notable personalities. This passion led to NAST joining Converse’s creative roster.

This season, NAST refocuses on the one of Converse’s most unassuming silhouettes: the Jack Purcell.

For those not too familiar, the JP was designed and worn by badminton champion Jack Purcell almost 85 years ago. While it being a clean silhouette, its most notable design element is the ‘smile’ on the toe cap.

NAST worked with Converse footwear designer Matt Sleep on the Jack Purcell Mid, turning it into a utilitarian sneaker as a nod to his love for the outdoors. “The silhouette is functional, durable. It’s intriguing… I wanted to craft a style that me and my team could wear every day, whatever way we like.”  This is evidenced in the hero design element of the sneaker: its heightened rubber overlays – which add dimension to the silhouette’s heritage canvas upper.

The collection also includes a Crew Sweatshirt and Pants and vintage JP tees. On the back of the tees, NAST interprets and contextualizes Converse’s place in culture, as if reciting from the English dictionary.

The Converse x A$AP NAST collection drops this Friday, March 22. The Jack Purcell Mid retails for Php 4,990. The Crew Sweatshirt goes for Php 4,349 while the pants retail for Php 4,049. The A$AP NAST tees come in two colorways, with each shirt retailing for Php 1,779. The collection will be available at Commonwealth and Converse (Glorietta, Greenbelt).
