You know the drill. The Air Jordan VII Retro “Cardinal” is dropping tomorrow, June 18, at select Nike stores and retailers nationwide. MJ wore the shoe throughout the 91-92 season, which was the season where he won his 2nd Championship. The colorway’s pretty subtle, with a white upper and a black midsole/outsole with cardinal red and bronze accents throughout the shoe. With the Bordeaux and the Orion coming out this year, why not add the OG colorway of the VII? This will only be the 2nd time the colorway has been retroed, with the 1st time being 2006.

The AJ VII Retro retails for 6,495 php. Quantities are quite similar with all the other Jordans that came out over the past year.

It seems that people drop by the site for the photos and not really the information surrounding them. So let’s change it up a bit. Let’s see if this works. I can’t believe it’s the weekend again. So what to do, what to do? There are a couple of things you shouldn’t miss out on. Here are my picks for what to do and where to go:

1. Bordeaux and PS release- Yes, the AJ VIII Bordeaux is finally dropping. Titan (Fort), Nike Park and Nike Stadium will carry the shoe. Go run to your store this am if you’re looking for this Retro. If you’re a fan of LBJ, his 3rd edition of the 8, the PS, is also dropping today. That shoe will be available at more stores so that won’t be too hard to get to. For more info on the PS, I’ll have the info on it shortly. The Js retail for 6,495 php and the PS for 7,595 php.
2. Summer Bazaar at WTC- need to gear up for the summer? Drop by the Summer Bazaar and get your sunglasses, shorts, tank tops, swimwear and whatever else. Notable brands- Keep (if you haven’t seen this brand before, do check them out there), Cushe, and a couple others.
3. RONAC Art Center- expect to pay long term parking (or just get there early for free parking) as you’ll spend majority of your day here. 4pm Secret Fresh is dropping their NBA x Mindstyle figures. Pretty limited edition and just plain dope. With the Playoffs starting tomorrow, treat yourself to some cool figures.
4. UNSCHLD + G-Shock Drop- after treating yourself to some cool toys from Secret Fresh, go up a couple of floors and get some tees and a new watch over at UNSCHLD. The tee designs are pretty neat and it’s just time to get yourself into some summer gear.
5. DEFINE THIS- our friends from 5th Ply/weLegendary are doing a nationwide premiere of their team skate video at 6 different locations NATIONWIDE (wL Davao, Noobs Boardshop (GenSan), U-kru Skateshop (Urdaneta City), Ransak Skateshop (Sta Rosa, Laguna), Tacloban Ampitheater (April 18), and ofcourse RONAC Art Center. The film starts at 8pm sharp so get your booze and grub ready for the video.
6. NIKE SB April Release- Right after the video premiere, line up at wL RONAC for the Nike SB releases for April. If you have the SH*T card handy, you get 2 stamps for every sneaker purchase. You all saw what the last guy got, so fill that card up asap! 9 pairs dropping today, all fine as heck. I told you you’ll be staying at RONAC all day long. Sneakers drop 9pm.
7. 2011 NBA Playoffs- if you choose to stay home Saturday night, that won’t be so bad with the 2011 Playoffs kicking off at 1am with the first game between the Pacers and Bulls. This year’s edition of the Playoffs is exciting all around and if you’re cable provider carries BTV, NBA Premium, S23/ABS-CBN, and ESPN, you’re pretty much set as you’ll get to see ALL the games from Game 1-4 (I’m still not sure about the next few but bet on it that you will). Can Kobe capture his 6th ring or will DRose overcome the Heatles and the Cs to emerge as the East and possibly the League’s new champ? Action starts this Sunday, April 17. You can get the schedules on Sole Movement in a few hours.
8. 2011 PBA Semifinals- The Semis capped off pretty well with TNT winning and Brgy. Ginebra winning a nail biter last night at the Big Dome. Game 2 will be this Sunday and you can catch the action LIVE at the Araneta Coliseum or just stay home and watch it on Studio 23.

Just a friendly reminder to all. I posted the info on the pack a couple of days ago. Since the other day here’s what I know:

- Titan Ronac will release the Pack on the 19th, 7pm. As the quantities are limited, they will raffle off the coveted pack. Like previous raffles, you can only win one of each pair. You can get your ballots at the store beginning 7pm.

- Nike Stadium Rockwell and Nike Park Trinoma will sell the shoe on the 20th, not the 19th. So your first chance at the pack would be Titan’s release the night before. Last I heard is that they will run a first come, first served policy for the pack. And it’s also likely that you can only have 1 of each as well.

- each pair still retails for 6,995 php

I told you we’ll give you guys the info once it’s ready. So yes, no need to talk about it in detail here. It’s part of the special All-Star collection for LA’s main man, Kobe Bryant. Drawing inspiration from three distinct LA neighborhoods, Hollywood (above, yes, they are in 3d), East LA (blue), and OC (sunset/orange), the Kobe VI comes correct just in time for All-Star Weekend. The LA Neighborhood Pack will be available at the following doors on FEBRUARY 19, 2011:

• Nike Stadium Rockwell
• Nike Park Trinoma
• Titan (Ronac Exclusive as previously mentioned)

Just a reminder. AJ III drops TODAY. As early as 10 am you can get your pair from your favorite Jordan Brand stockist. The shoe retails for 7,495 php and is available at the stores in limited quantities so I really suggest you cop them ASAP. The “White/Cement” OG AJ IIIs come in the OG Air Jordan box, elephant print shoe paper, with the AJ III info card and the OG Air Jordan hangtag. You want OG, this is OG. Believe me, it’s a great way to start the year if you haven’t copped something for 2011 (which is highly unlikely). Remember, it drops TODAY, January 22, 2011.

What if the Jordan 1 were created today? Jordan Brand says it’ll more or less look like the Jordan Evolution ’85. It’s a shoe that is lightweight but with maximum support and superior traction for today’s new age baller. With a full-grain leather upper and ballistic mesh for breathability, the Evolution looks better than most of the Js and Jordan Brand signatures out there (yes, better looking than the Melos, CPs, and 2010s. I’d even dare say better than the 2011s).

The shoe also features full-length air sole to provide proper protection on impact. I remember back in the day Jordans would give you that when no other shoe could. They just felt different, and this one is a notch better. Design-wise, the shoe also features the iconic elephant print that has been a Jordan trademark since the III. Overall, it’s a good looking shoe. With the classic Jordan colors on ‘em, I’d rank these one of the top non-retro pairs JB has produced over the years. What do you guys think?

If you thought your holiday sneaker list ended with the Cool Greys from last night (or today), guess again. Nike Basketball presents the “Signal Your Color” Pack, or the Stoplight Pack, or simply the Christmas Day Pack. No matter what you call ‘em, they’re three pairs ALL worthy of your holiday moolah. With the colors distinctly similar to the stoplight, let’s go over each pair from Red to Green.

LEBRON 8 V/2 CHRISTMAS DAY “RUN ON RED”

We’ve seen the redesigned LeBron 8s online but the leaner and lighter 8 launches on Christmas Day (December 26 our time). Bron will be rocking the V/2 when the Heat face LA for the Christmas Day match-up.  At a full 1 oz lighter than the first LEBRON 8, the V/2 is the first Nike Basketball shoe with an upper made entirely of Flywire technology with lightweight mesh in key areas, delivering LeBron the support he needs to overcome his opponents. For those who want to catch a glimpse on court, the game airs LIVE on NBA Premium TV at 6am, via satellite on SOLARtv at 8am, and 430pm on BTV.

The LEBRON 8 V/2 Christmas Day shoe launches on December 26, 2010 in select Nike stores. Additional colors of the LEBRON 8 V/2 launch at retail on January 8, 2011. Suggested Retail: P7,995.

THE KD III CHRISTMAS DAY “NO YIELD FOR YELLOW”

More known as Run on Yellow here in the Philippines, this is the color used for Kevin Durant’s newest signature shoe. KD wanted his signature performance shoe, the KD III,  to be accessible to everyone. The designer of the shoe found innovative ways to incorporate story telling design details to offer a true signature experience at an accessible price point. Here are the details that makes this a true signature shoe:

• Five lightning bolts come together on the outsole to represent his team.

• Piano keys near the heel and midfoot of the outsole represent KD’s love of music.

• BF62 repeat pattern throughout the outsole is a nod to the legendary game where KD scored 62 points at Barry Farms in his home town of Washington D.C.

Limited pairs of KDIII will launch exclusively at Nike Park the Fort.  Suggested Retail: P4,795. I expect not to answer questions regarding this again. For the KD III, you know where to go. Catch Baby Ice rock the KDIII on the 26th at 9am on Basketball TV when they face the Denver Nuggets.

NIKE ZOOM KOBE VI CHRISTMAS DAY “GREEN MEANS GO”

Last but certainly not the least- the KOBE VI. Inspired by his annual Christmas Day game, this year vs. Miami, the Nike Zoom Kobe VI was designed in green with red laces. With the mamba-like upper, The Zoom Kobe VI incorporates key performance elements in a low-profile shoe that weighs just 10.6 ounces (men’s US size 9) making it one of Nike’s lightest basketball shoes. I really don’t know how Kobe can sport such lightweight sneaker on court. Don’t get me wrong I love ‘em, but at the rate we’re going his next signature shoe will most likely be a slipper.

One great innovation to this year’s edition would be the “couture fit” the shoe has.  The Kobe VI features a Dual Density sockliner that molds to the shape of your foot as you wear the shoe. It wraps up higher than most sockliners to cup the foot for a better fit and feel.

The Nike Zoom Kobe VI “Grinch” launches on December 26, 2010 in select Nike stores nationwide. Suggested Retail: P6,995. For more on the Kobe VI, I’ll have more on the shoes over the holidays.

I was at Trinoma last weekend and saw a couple of Js you heads might be interested in. The Jordan Rare Air and Flight 9 (olympic) are now available at most Stadiums, Parks and JB retailers around town.  For fans of the brand, these are ok, just enough to keep you through the early ber months before you pick up your FTL 6s, Flint XIIIs or even the Cool Grey XIs. The Rare Air is another one of those hybrid Js. I’m not too fond of it but if you want to rep Jordan, then go ahead. I personally don’t like the work they did on this pair as it seems rushed and the paint job’s poor. Oh, and let’s not even bother with the stitching on the heel tab. This is one original pair that definitely looks fake (well, at least the word AIR looks fake). But again, to each his own. I got on someone’s case for the Jordan Fusions. Well, to each his own, but those wi’ll never be on my feet. Ever.

As for the Flight 9s, these aren’t so bad but because of the Olympic cw-influence on them (including MJ’s no.9 for the Olympics on the lace loop), or how they used the olympic colors, these got a bad review on most sneaker sites. They actually don’t look as great though I did see a cw online that might be worth my money.Anyways, they’re now available. Enjoy!

What would happen if the Air Max LeBron VII and the Hyperize had a baby? My guess is as good as yours and it would be the Air Max Hyperize. The shoe’s POP cw also dropped along with the ZKV POP this week and here’s a closer look. Obviously these were done in the Jazz’ colors. The shoe features the key elements of both pairs- the flywire tech of the Hyperize (which is also available on most LeBrons) and the Air Max 360 sole from the LBJ VIIs. They are a bit clunky but would serve well for cats who like to prowl the paint. Many have said they’re as heavy as the Hypermax’. And similar to the Kobe POPs, they also feature the snowflake-y design on the upper. The tongue features the triangular “bracket”. Not quite sure what it symbolizes but you can infer they represent the teams in the postseason. From the colors, you can pick up LA, Cleveland, Portland, Utah, Orlando, and Boston (it’s Boston, right?).

My question is– do we really need another variation of a shoe that’s quite similar to what’s already out? Nike Basketball’s pairs for this season with similar silhouettes- LBJ VIIs, Hyperize, Hyperdunk, Hypermax, and now an Air Max Hyperize? I dunno guys. I think someone fell off the deep end with this one. But, on the other end, if you’re a fan of the Hyperize but wanted more stability and cushioning, then it makes sense. The Air Max Hyperize then solves a need. Anyhoo, the shoe’s now available at most Nike retailers.
