Special Release: adidas ZX 500 RM ‘Kelvin’

Posted on Mar 8, 2019 in Adidas

Since Holiday 2018, adidas has been focused on celebrating one of their key collections which featured some of the brands’ most groundbreaking innovations, the ZX series. We’ve seen the remastered ZX 500 to the point that the sneaker was the focal point of Commonwealth’s first ever collaboration with the brand. As part of a two-model release, adidas Originals takes inspiration from the Kelvin temperature scale to highlight the contrast between modern mechanical production and traditional craftsmanship. Both the ZX 4000 4D and the ZX 500 RM represent the evolution of footwear production as it is portrayed in cold and warm color schemes.

While the ZX 4000 4D won’t be available, the 4D midsole is produced in Ansbach, Germany in the shoe’s automated factory. The black/grey color scale reflects the cold spectrum of the Kelvin scale. The shoe’s Primeknit upper coupled with the 4D sole represents the shoe’s futuristic look.

On the other end of the spectrum lies the ZX 500 RM. The shoe is manufactured almost by hand in Asia, reflecting the Kelvin scale’s warm temperature. These are depicted with the brown and taupe hues. The shoe’s upper features a mix of OG mesh, nubuck, and premium leather as it sits atop the generous amount of Boost in the midsole. This mix definitely brings both old and the new seamlessly. The shoe is finished off with embroidered and printed graphics, referencing the shoe’s respective Kelvin values.

While the ZX 4000 4D won’t be made available locally, the ZX 500 RM ‘Kelvin’ will be available beginning tomorrow, March 9th, at Commonwealth, Sole Academy, adidas Originals Neighborhood (BHS) and the adidas PH online store. The special release retails for Php 10,000.
