Powered by the Past: adidas OZWEEGO and LXCON

Posted on Aug 7, 2019 in Adidas

While a lot of people didn’t notice it, 2018 was actually a ‘down year’ for adidas. All brands go through fatigue and that’s ok, provided that you retool and address the needs of the market. What adidas has done right though is to look deep into its archive and create new silhouettes for today’s sneaker aficionado. Two of their more recent creations – the OZWEEGO and LXCON – have been praised for their overall aesthetic.

As featured here before, the new OZWEEGO took inspiration from the OZWEEGO 3 that debuted back in 1998. With its futuristic design, distinctive eyestay panel, defined midsole lines and translucent tubes, the OZWEEGO is slowly becoming a cult favorite (yes, you can live without Boost in 2019). On the other end of the spectrum, the LXCON took design cues from the LEXICON, it’s OG brother. With a unique lacing system and knitted upper, the new sneaker is a definitely call back to the earlier years of sneaker fandom. In terms of cushioning, both sneakers feature adiPRENE, which was originally used for performance silhouettes, now reimagined for comfort across these Originals pairs.

The adidas OZWEEGO and LXCON both celebrate the brand’s rich heritage and are reimagined for the future. The latest colorways of the OZWEEGO and LXCON are set to drop tomorrow, August 8th, across adidas Originals Neighborhood stores, Sole Academy, Commonwealth, and adidas PH online. The adidas OZWEEGO and LXCON both retail for Php 6,500. Check out the new colorways that are set to drop tomorrow:

adidas OZWEEGO M ‘Core Black/Solar Green/Hi-Res Coral’
adidas OZWEEGO M ‘Cloud White/Cloud White/Core Black’
adidas OZWEEGO W ‘Cloud White/Grey Three/Soft Vision’
adidas OZWEEGO W ‘Core Black/Solar Green/Onix’
adidas LXCON ‘Cloud White/Cloud White/Core Black’

*The LXCON may seem similar to a previous release but the main different here is the black lettering on the label found on the shoe’s throat.

** The Orange and Green OZWEEGOS aren’t dropping tomorrow. Stay tuned for the release soon.
