ICYMI: Naked x adidas Communitas Magmur Runner

Posted on Mar 20, 2019 in Adidas

Last weekend was pretty busy with the release of the Hyperspace 350 V2s, Air Max 90 ‘Mars Landing’ and Phantom Js. But there were other solid releases that slipped through the cracks. adidas Consortium brings partners, retailers and the like together to bring out amazing stories and silhouettes. Pushing the envelope further is their Communitas program. Communitas highlights the local community that inspires the creation from adidas and its partners.

Communitas is centered around a collaborative design process – but it also provides a platform for local causes on an international scale; for promoting dialogue on the preservation of local cultures; for championing the individuals that combine to make our communities great. To put it simply, Consortium Communitas was created to extend the dialogue between brands and consumers beyond just product.

To kick things off, adidas Communitas worked with Naked featuring an all-new sneaker designed by the store. Naked was founded in 2004 and was known for their curation of cutting-edge streetwear styles catering to female customers. In an indusry largely dominated by men, Naked offers an empowering outlet for female self-expression. The Magmur Runner is a new sneaker that channels the ethos at the heart of Naked’s DNA. The shoe features a chunky Adiprene midsole with uppers forged from technical mesh and lux leathers.

“We wanted to create a sneaker unlike any other, so we traversed an extensive range of basketball and running silhouettes to derive the best design elements we could find,” explains Naked’s Creative Director, Stine Pedersen. “This was about elevating the current chunky sneaker aesthetic – an evolution of the dad shoe that’s distinguishable as a Naked creation.”

The shoe comes in a monochromatic white and cream version which is now available at Commonwealth.
