FREE TO CREATE: adidas unveils the Harden Vol. 4

Posted on Sep 13, 2019 in Adidas

Ever since his trip to Manila, we’ve seen James Harden rock what was presumed to be his latest signature shoe. Today, adidas Basketball officially introduces us to the Harden Vol.4, inspired by Harden’s creative freedom on and off the court.

While the Vol.4 stays as a low top, there is one noticeable change here which is the absence of the Boost midsole. adidas switches Boost for LIGHTSTRIKE, which we first saw on the N3XT L3V3L. LIGHTSTRIKE is the perfect balance between lightweight cushioning and on-court responsiveness. Aside from the new silhouette, adidas Basketball also announced their partnershp with streetwear designer Daniel Patrick.

Part of Harden Vol.4’s update is the distinct midfoot band, which provides stability, which works hand in hand with the updated traction pattern for ultimate grip on court. On to the shoe’s upper, you’ll see Harden’s unique style further accented by the bold color palettes and use of premium materials over the course of the line.

“The process to create the Vol. 4 was a true collaboration with the adidas design team that allowed me to voice my creativity and to blend different ideas into one shoe that would showcase both my style of play on the court and my sense of style walking out of the tunnel,” explains Harden. “Daniel Patrick has been setting trends with his use of bold looks and bright colors, so partnering with Daniel was the perfect way to highlight the design of the Vol. 4 and bring sport, fashion and culture together. While my friends and family get the honor of enjoying this limited first drop, everyone can look forward to the next chapter of building my signature collection.”

As seen above, adidas has 4 new colorways lined up as it drops October 12. Here’s a breakdown of the colorways and their prospective release dates (official PH release dates follow):

Harden Vol.4 ‘Barbershop’ – October 12
Harden Vol.4 ‘Pink Lemonade’ – October 26
Harden Vol.4 ‘Candy Paint’ – October 31

Aside from the key colorways, Harden will also sport a limited edition colorway designed in prtnership with Daniel Patrick. Unfortunately, this will be a friends and family release. Daniel Patrick and adidas will release a larger spring/summer collection which includes footwear and apparel come early 2020.

The adidas Harden Vol.4 is expected to retail for Php 7,000.
