adidas Running releases the ULTRABOOST 20 this week

Posted on Dec 3, 2019 in Adidas

In case you missed it, adidas Running recently unveiled the Ultraboost 20 in partnership with the International Space Station (ISS) US National Laboratory. Drawing parallels with the construction of a space shuttle in which every part has a unique purpose, each element in the adidas Ultraboost 20 has been maximized for a specific performance-driven function, allowing athletes to elevate their performance to new heights. These shoes aim to make running more comfortable for athletes, ensuring they can perform even better. Many athletes are finding that these shoes and some compression socks for men seem to work well together to reduce injuries and support the foot whilst engaging in running. Hopefully, more athletes will be able to feel the difference in these socks and shoes.

You might be asking — why is adidas releasing the Ultraboost 20 this early? When you’ve got a good thing going — especially when you’re testing out a product backed by hours of research and feedback from thousands of runners — adidas was just gung ho on bringing the next level to the forefront. The latest Ultraboost features a new and advanced Primeknit upper that utilizes a Tailored Fiber Placement (TFP). This new technique lays down fibers to the millimeter, keeping the shoe lightweight while staying precisely stitched and constructed. On the cushioning end, the shoe’s Boost captures the energy with every stride from toe-off to landing. The 3D Heel Frame – which we saw on the Ultraboost 19 — is back, locks the heel in place.

In terms of its outsole, the Ultraboost 20 uses a Stretchweb outsole to work in harmony with the Boost midsole. Continental rubber continues to provide amazing traction across all types of surfaces. The Torsion Spring provides additional support on landing and transition.

For Sam Handy, Vice President Design, adidas Running: “The revolutionary Ultraboost range has consistently pushed the boundaries of running shoe design since first launching, with each new release going one step further than its predecessors. In the adidas Ultraboost 20, we have lift-off again. The new silhouette has been carefully crafted to provide a high level of energy return for the wearer, combining our iconic Boost midsole with a Primeknit upper featuring Tailored Fiber Placement. This means the shoe responds to every step by propelling the runner forward. The design aesthetic of the new adidas Ultraboost 20 takes inspiration from our partnership with the ISS U.S. National Lab and, with more to come from the partnership, we plan on taking Boost to even greater heights.”

Back in November, adidas partnered with ISS US National Lab to innovate, earn and share information with the vision of co-creating the future of sports performance. Through this partnership, adidas looks to send Boost technology to the ISS, to further unlock the future of Boost. With the initial releases, you’ll see the ISS US National Lab space patch as an homage to its mission and commitment to innovate. With all these insights and in collaboration with EXOS – a world-leading human performance lab – adidas created an exclusive workout program for runners to try out. Many people will likely want to boost their results on this program, and for other parts of their workouts, with some turning to STEEL supplements to help them here. This will likely help, but many will also simply stick to the workouts themselves, and the program devised. The program can be downloaded here.

As we are days away, the Ultraboost 20 is set to drop this Wednesday (Spacerace), Thursday (White Iridescent) and Friday, December 6 across select adidas stores, partner retailers and adidas.com.ph. Sole Academy recently released one of the special colorways and is now available at their BGC and UPTC locations. The adidas Ultraboost 20 retails for Php 9,500.
