Oh that fateful April 29 morning (April 28 in the US). With the game already decided, Thibs should’ve yanked DRose from the lineup and give him the much needed rest after the stellar performance he gave for Game 1 of the 2012 Playoffs. But Pooh being Pooh, he had to go in. He had to go hard. He had to go HAM on the Sixers.
Imagine that. The 2012 NBA Playoffs would’ve been so different if that injury never happened to DRose. He might’ve steered the Bulls past the Sixers. Then the Cs, and possibly even the Heat. He would’ve rested a couple of weeks then joined Team USA in Vegas, DC, Spain and eventually London for the Summer Games.
With adidas fully supporting DRose (and his current rehabilitation), adidas still continued to launch an Olympic colorway for the Rose 773. Like LeBron’s Soldier/Ambassador, Kobe’s Dream Season, adidas provided the youngest ever MVP with an offseason shoe that can perform as well as it’s predecessor. The 773 is the area code for Chicago, Illinois– Rose always wants a part of his roots seen on his shoe.
