adidas DROSE LOGO

Earlier today adidas Basketball unveiled Derrick Rose’s 3rd signature shoe, the D Rose 3, as well as the new signature collection. Along with the new shoe and apparel, adidas developed a new D Rose logo in close partnership with Rose himself. The logo features three petals revolving around the D and 1 in the center. The personal meaning of the logo is twofold. Like the flower, each petal is unique to represent his fast, creative drives to the basket, which he honed with physical play on the courts of Murray Park in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. The logo also pays homage to his family – with mother Brenda in the center of the Rose and his three brothers Reggie, Allan and Dwayne as the petals – who guided him from that neighborhood to NBA superstardom.
The new DRose logo is on point, and even better once he starts sharing the meaning behind it. I remember seeing the Rose logo during All-Star Weekend, when he wore a hoodie during a mall appearance for adidas. The designers over at adidas mentioned that Rose doesn’t say much when he’s presented with their studies/designs. But once he calls out Team Rose– his brothers– that means that he really likes it. So when they presented the new logo to him, he quickly picked up the hat, hoodie and everything else to wear immediately. What’s your take? Love it or hate it?
Watch out for the Rose 3 and the rest of the DRose line beginning October 4 in stores nationwide.
