It’s really a toss up when it comes to retros and archives with the big brands. adidas has been bringing out a lot of their classic indoor shoes into play as of late (I would assume to coincide with Euro 2012 and the Olympics). This season, they also released the Beckenbauer. Launched in 1982 as a training shoe for famed footballer Franz “Der Kaiser” Beckenbauer, the Beckenbauer uses a full grain leather upper with gold accents throughout, upping the class points for a more lifestyle approach. The shoe looks a lot like other indoor shoes back then (Roma, Samoa, Bamba and Samba), but makes the difference with the re-engineered midsole and outsole for better grip and feel.
